If your child is absent from school, please be sure to notify the office or your child's teacher.  The notification can be in the form of a phone call, email, or note when your child returns to school.  Be sure to state the reason for your child's absence.  The student will be considered Truant until the classroom teacher or school has not been notified.

A student returning to school following an absence of 5 or more days, or following a serious illness, injury, surgery, or other hospitalization must have written permission by the health care provider to attend school.  Any recommendations regarding any limitations to physical activity should be included in the directives.

Students are marked tardy once the 8:00 a.m. bell rings in the morning.  In order ensure your child is ready to learn, s/he must be with their class by 8:00 a.m.  Plan your mornings so that you are not attempting to drop off your child at the Valet at 7:58 a.m.  This often causes undo stress for your child.  If your child arrives after Gate 3 closes, s/he must come with their parent to the Main Office to receive a tardy slip.  The parent must sign them into the late arrival book.  Conferences will be scheduled with administration for parents who consistently drop off their children late to school.

Releasing Children Before Dismissal

Occasionally, you may need your child to be released before the regular dismissal time.  We can do this only under two circumstances.

    1.  The parent or an adult listed on the emergency card is present in the office to request the child.

    2.  The parent may authorize in writing another adult (18 years or older) that can come to the office to request the child.  That person must present a valid identification.  By Board of Education Rule, we cannot honor telephone requests.

All children leaving at other than the regular dismissal time must be released through the main office.  All early releases will be documented in the District's attendance system.
