After School Programs

NVision is an after-school program offered to our students.  Students in grades K - 5 are assigned to clubs based on grade level availability.  The clubs engage students in activities that allow them to discover new interests, enhance self-esteem, and master new skills.  This program provides a very structured atmosphere that includes time for homework, academic enrichment, arts & crafts, and playground activities.  There are limited spaces for this after-school program.  Children participating in this program are required to stay until 5:30 p.m.  A meeting is held at the beginning and end of each year where parents can receive information and sign their children up to attend.  The program often fills up and a waiting list is created.  If you would like more information, you may call the Main Office and leave a message for Lori Little, NVision Coordinator.

Students in Fourth and Fifth grade can participate in an after school robotics program.  Students learn the basics of building and programing a Lego robot.  Students are selected by interest and teacher recommendation.  They meet twice a week on Thursdays and Fridays from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m.

Youth Services

This after-school program begins the first day of school and operates until 6:00 p.m.  This program is ONLY for students in grades 2 - 5.   This is a permissive program.  Although children are supervised by coaches, they may leave campus as they please.  In this program, students are provided time to work on homework, and to participate in organized sports activities.  Parents can pick up their child from this program any time between dismissal and 6:00 p.m.  Parents are required to walk onto campus to pick up their children.  Please do not honk your horn to try to get your child's attention.  This is very disruptive for our neighbors.  Please clarify with your child the specific arrangements you have agreed upon regarding pick up from the after-school playground.  This should be done in the morning before s/he come to school.  Cooperative behavior and good sportsmanship are essential requirements for all participants.

Club 8

Club 8 is a mathematics club.  Students in Third, Fourth, and Fifth grade request to attend an 8 week session of Club 8.  The club meets one day a week, on Wednesdays, after school from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.  Students get an opportunity to run, jump, build stuff, make music, make a mess, and surprisingly learn math!  Student get to take home all culminating lesson projects.

Making Movies That Matter

Fourth and Fifth graders work with film industry professionals and our own dedicated staff to create 3-minute shorts for the Mitchell Englander Annual Film Festival.
