Safety and Security

Student and Employee Safety

For the safety of all of our students, Nevada Avenue Elementary complies with the District's closed campus policy.  All gates will be locked from 8:00 a.m. until dismissal (2:23 p.m. - M, W, Th, F and 1:23 p.m. T) each day.  If you need to enter the campus, please use the Main entrance to the office and request a visitor's pass.

Classroom Visits

Parents are encouraged to volunteer and/or observe in their child's classrooms.  But please remember that by law, parents are onely allowed on campus if they have first signed in and secured a visitor's badge in the Main Office.  The badge must be warn at all times while on campus.  During the brief observation period, the visitor may not disrupt instruction by speaking with the adults in the classroom, his/her child or other children in the class.  Also, due to District liability issues, only students who are enrolled at the school may be on campus during the school's instructional day.  We want to thank you in advance for helping us maintain our students' safety and security.

Safety and Emergencies

The safety and welfare of our students and staff are our highest priorities.  Nevada Avenue Elementary School conducts emergency drills monthly throughout the school year.  The goals of the drills are to improve our ability to protect students, save lives and reduce injuries.  Students are taught how to react and what to do in the event of an emergency.
