Drop Off & Pick Up

Morning Drop Off Procedures

For the safety and security of our students, visitors are not allowed on campus at any time without a Visitor's pass issued at the Main Office.

We request that students arrive no earlier than 7:30 a.m. as we do not have any supervision until this time.  Please remember that instruction begins promptly at 8:00 a.m.  In order for your child to avoid missing valuable instructional time, it is imperative that s/he arrives no latter than the 7:55 a.m.  All students arriving between 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. are to enter the campus from Gate 3.

Walking to School

For those who walk to school, it is recommended that you escort your younger (K-3) children to school every day rather than letting them walk by themselves.  Students in grades Kindergarten through Fifth grade are to enter the campus from Gate 3.  Students in the Preschool and Transitional Kindergarten are to enter campus from Gate 2 where they will be met by their teacher at 7:55 a.m.   Students are not to enter the school through the Main Office.  Please do not drop off your child in the parking lot in front of the Main Office.  This can cause a safety hazard for our children.

For your child's safety, ensure you child only crosses the streets around school at the crosswalks, especially between 7:30 - 8:00 a.m.  Crossing the street at any other location can cause a dangerous situation for your child and delays to the Valet Program.

As a courtesy to our neighbors, please do not block the driveways of private residences.  Please remember, double parking or making U-turns on any street around the school is illegal.  These actions can possibly jeopardize the safety of our students!

Nevada Valet Program

In an effort to make our morning drop-off as efficient and safe as possible, Nevada Avenue Elementary School uses the Nevada Valet Program to bring students into the school safely.  This program provides reduced traffic problems, and a safer environment for students as they are dropped off.  Please keep a few things in mind in the mornings:

  • As you arrive, simply line up your car along the curb as you approach Gate 3 on Nevada Avenue.
  • Volunteers will come up to the first cars in the "CONE ZONE" and open the car doors to allow the students to exit with their backpacks and other necessary items.
  • Volunteers will close the car doors to allow parents to drive away.
  • While in line, please do not get out of your car.  This will assure efficiency in the system and keep the line moving.
  • Wait until you read the "Cone Zone" to drop off your children.  Parents who allow their children to exit the car before the "Cone Zone" and then drive away will add to the traffic.  This will cause a more dangerous situation for all cars and students.
